Senior Principal Mechanical Designer

About the role

The Senior 3D Model Application Engineer manages, coordinates and supports the implementation and administration of 3D engineering design applications and model environments across the Concept, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, Construction and Commissioning phases of ADNOC Offshore projects. The role covers Greenfield and Brownfield developments, ensuring model management, multidisciplinary integration, data integrity and compliance with ADNOC standards.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain project 3D model environments, databases and engineering design applications.
• Configure and support Smart 3D (S3D), AVEVA E3D or equivalent 3D modelling platforms used by EPC contractors and the PMC team.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary model integration across Process, Piping, Mechanical, Civil & Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Telecom and HVAC.
• Review EPC contractor model execution plans and procedures, and run regular audits and quality checks.
• Support clash detection, model validation and design coordination using Navisworks or equivalent.
• Coordinate model reviews with ADNOC, PMC, EPC contractors and other stakeholders.
• Integrate laser scan/point cloud data into the model for Brownfield projects and support tie-in and interface engineering.
• Maintain engineering databases, reference catalogues, specifications and component libraries, and support extraction of layouts, isometrics, equipment arrangements, MTOs and model reports.
• Troubleshoot software issues, coordinate software upgrades and patches, and ensure compliance with document control, data management and information security.
• Take part in model reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOP, HAZID and design coordination meetings, and support construction, fabrication, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and project close-out.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent, with at least 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemicals, including 5 years preferred in the GCC.
• At least 3 years in a similar role on major international Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
• Minimum 12 years in engineering design systems, 3D modelling applications or engineering information management, and 5 years supporting Smart 3D, AVEVA E3D, PDMS or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in a similar Senior 3D Model Application Engineer role on major offshore EPC or PMC projects, with experience in both Greenfield and Brownfield offshore developments.
• ADNOC Offshore project experience is required.
