About the role

The Senior Radioactive Waste Management Specialist will ensure safe and compliant handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive waste generated by the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP). The role involves technical oversight, implementation of safety practices, and alignment with regulatory requirements for pre‑disposal waste management.

Key responsibilities

• Support BNPP in developing waste characterization and categorization programs, providing technical expertise to identify waste types and radioactivity levels.
• Oversee best practices for safe handling, packaging, labeling, and clearance‑level waste disposal, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Manage technical aspects of safe storage and on‑site transportation of radioactive waste, monitoring the Low and Medium Level Radioactive Waste Interim Building (LMRWIB) for compliance.
• Lead implementation of regulatory compliance measures, staying current with evolving waste management regulations.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve technical procedures and protocols for efficient waste management.
• Support radiation protection strategies to minimize exposure for personnel.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with proven expertise in radioactive waste characterization and categorization.
• Experience overseeing waste handling, packaging, labeling, and clearance‑level waste disposal.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements for radioactive waste management.
• Ability to develop and improve technical procedures and protocols.
