Senior Refrigeration Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Refrigeration Technician to lead complex maintenance, troubleshooting and repair activities on commercial refrigeration systems, primarily in supermarket environments. The role involves providing technical guidance, ensuring safety compliance and delivering effective solutions to our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of refrigerant devices and commercial refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose and resolve complex faults in centralized systems, including parallel rack and multi‑compressor installations.
• Overhaul open, semi‑hermetic and scroll compressors and guide major repairs.
• Service condensing units, condensers, evaporators, display cases, walk‑in chillers/freezers, blast freezers and cold rooms.
• Program, configure and troubleshoot electronic controllers and remote monitoring platforms.
• Support commissioning, start‑up and performance testing of new installations.
• Interpret layout drawings, P&ID diagrams and refrigeration schematics for installations and modifications.
• Perform brazing, leak detection, pressure testing, vacuuming and refrigerant charging using approved procedures.
• Monitor system performance with gauges, manifolds and diagnostic instruments and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate maintenance planning with supervisors and customers to minimise downtime.
• Train, mentor and supervise junior technicians on safety, troubleshooting and quality workmanship.
• Ensure compliance with EHS policies, refrigerant handling regulations and site requirements.
• Estimate, order and verify materials, spare parts and consumables; prepare detailed service and root‑cause analysis reports.
• Provide emergency breakdown response and technical assistance during critical failures.

Required profile

• 8‑12 years of experience in commercial refrigeration, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead technician role.
• Strong knowledge of supermarket refrigeration systems, including parallel rack, display case, remote and plug‑in cabinet configurations.
• Proficiency with refrigeration control and diagnostic platforms such as Emerson, Danfoss, Dixell, Eckelmann and Carel.
• Hands‑on experience with compressor overhauling, leak detection, refrigerant charging and system commissioning.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, refrigeration schematics and installation drawings.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with a focus on root‑cause identification.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
