Senior Specialist Business Development – M&A

About the role

The Senior Specialist will support the origination, evaluation and execution of M&A, joint‑venture and investment opportunities across ADNOC’s Trading and Downstream ecosystem. The role provides the analytical and commercial foundation for deal teams, ensuring rigorous assessment against investment criteria and portfolio strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market scanning, research and intelligence reporting to identify target companies and market trends.
• Screen opportunities for strategic fit, commercial merit and investment thresholds, maintaining data in the deal pipeline tracker.
• Analyse supply‑demand dynamics, margin drivers and market economics across gas, refining, chemicals, fuels and trading.
• Build and maintain financial models (DCF, comparables, scenario and sensitivity analysis) and calculate return metrics such as IRR, NPV and payback.
• Prepare business case components, due‑diligence coordination, negotiation briefs and governance materials for investment committees and board submissions.
• Support post‑deal integration planning and track realised synergies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 7–9 years of experience in M&A, corporate finance, investment banking, transaction advisory or strategy consulting, preferably in energy, oil & gas or commodity trading.
• Professional certifications such as CFA, ACA/ACCA, CPA or recognized M&A/financial modelling certification are a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills (Excel, DCF, comparables, scenario analysis).
• Strong analytical, written and presentation abilities to produce executive‑ready materials.
• Knowledge of due‑diligence processes, transaction structuring and commercial negotiations.
