Senior Wet Utilities Design Engineer

About the role

Parsons is looking for a Senior Wet Utilities Design Engineer in Dubai. The role involves determining methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selecting the most efficient and economical way to meet project objectives. The engineer may act as a technical consultant for management or the client, and some assignments may involve CAE, CAD and GIS applications. Travel or relocation to supplier, client or construction sites is expected.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise a major engineering unit or project, and lead engineers and design staff in technical excellence and quality improvement.
• Provide technical consultation for interdisciplinary studies and give input to CAD designers and drafters, including 3D modelling with special software.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and regulations, and sign off professionally when required.
• Prepare material and equipment specifications and purchase requisitions, review supplier data, witness shop tests and assess supplier manufacturing capabilities.
• Develop operation and maintenance plans, standard operating procedures and O&M manuals, and train personnel on site.
• Carry out surveys, site investigations, RAM and safety analyses, and prepare technical papers.
• Help determine budget estimates and staffing needs, and liaise with service providers for NOCs and design approvals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) with 8-12 years of design experience in water/wastewater/wet utilities projects; Master's degree preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in a lead capacity, with strong written and oral communication and report-writing skills.
• Experience in on-the-job training and mentoring in pressure system design.
• UAE experience preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of urban water supply and irrigation system design, and of DEWA, ADDC/ADWEA, DM, ADM, DCD, ADCD and other Gulf region regulations.
• Working knowledge of water supply systems, including water treatment, pumping and intake structures.
• Pressure network design, hydraulic modelling and utility cross-sections for local authorities such as RTA, DMT and MOMRA.
• Civil 3D and other wet services software; knowledge of Dynamo, Python, Open Roads, Open Utilities and GIS is preferred.
