Sonographer

About the role

NMC Healthcare is hiring a full-time Sonographer in Al Ain. The role covers diagnostic ultrasound and sonography work in radiography rooms and wards, including the ER, operating theatre, outpatient departments and special clinics, on a 24-hour on-call rotation. Strict adherence to radiation safety regulations is required.

Key responsibilities

• Review radiologic requests to determine which regions to examine and which projections to take, based on patient history, departmental guidelines, physician recommendations and patient condition.
• Arrange patient flow and transport, prepare and position patients with care and courtesy.
• Operate and adjust radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality images, and review processed images for quality control.
• Prepare and assist in administering contrast media and performing special procedures under the general supervision of the radiologist.
• Maintain clean, antiseptic conditions, follow sterile and isolation techniques, and comply with infection control and waste management policies.
• Recognize changes in patient condition that require emergency action and follow OSH and evacuation procedures.
• Assist in teaching radiologic technology staff, attend in-service education, and report hazards and incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound or Sonography.
• At least two years of experience after qualification in a related field.
• Licensed in the country of origin and holding a DOH/DHA/MOH license to practice in the UAE.
• Fluent spoken and written English; Arabic is desirable but not essential.
