Specialist Large Animal Surgeon - Equine & Camel Surgery

About the role

Abu Dhabi Equine & Camel Hospital (ADECH), a new referral centre in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi, is looking for a full-time specialist large animal surgeon. The hospital will serve horses and camels across the UAE and the wider Gulf region and is being built with modern veterinary technology, including CT scan, nuclear scintigraphy, digital X-ray and ultrasound, several operating theatres, a podiatry unit and a veterinary diagnostic laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Provide elective and emergency/out-of-hours surgical care for all horses and camels presenting to the hospital.
• Cover soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, lameness evaluations and other surgical procedures.
• Work as a team member alongside a multidisciplinary team of veterinarians, technicians and support staff.
• Possibility of collaborative research and educational activities with local academic institutions.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of work experience as an equine surgeon.
• Veterinary degree (DVM or equivalent).
• Relevant board certification or similar proven record of specialization.
• Camel experience is an advantage.
