Staff Nurse – Obstetrics and Gynecology

About the role

The Staff Nurse in Obstetrics and Gynecology provides age‑appropriate, patient‑centred care within Madinat Zayed Hospital. The role follows the Nursing Scope of Practice, the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi, and promotes health education and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in accordance with hospital policies and unit scope.
• Administer medications safely, monitor responses, report adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
• Identify and act on significant changes in patient condition, escalating to supervisors or physicians as needed.
• Coordinate individualized care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning.
• Supervise and mentor practical nurses, midwives, junior staff and student nurses; act as preceptor for new staff.
• Participate in performance reviews, organizational change initiatives and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Respond to emergencies following established protocols and maintain cost‑effective resource use.

Required profile

• Registered nurse licensed by the relevant Abu Dhabi regulatory body.
• Demonstrated critical‑thinking, conflict‑management and problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary practice and patient advocacy.
• Ability to supervise, mentor and act as a role model for nursing staff.
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and organizational improvement.
