Staff Nurse - PICU

About the role

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Tawam Hospital is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to deliver high‑quality care to critically ill children. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, applying evidence‑based practices to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate critical thinking, conflict management and problem‑solving skills.
• Promote interdisciplinary teamwork and act as a role model for nursing staff.
• Supervise junior nurses and students, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
• Participate in organizational change and perform in‑charge duties when delegated.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care using evidence‑based practices.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital policies.
• Utilize the Malaffi electronic health record system efficiently.
• Monitor patient conditions, apply early warning tools and escalate care as needed.
• Manage pain assessment and treatment according to clinical guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing OR Associate Degree in Nursing from Canada or the USA.
• Successful completion of the national licensing exam (NCLEX‑RN for the USA or the Canadian licensing exam).
• Minimum two (2) years of clinical nursing experience post‑qualification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic health records, specifically the Malaffi system.
