Structural Engineer Site

About the role

AECOM is recruiting a Structural Engineer Site in Abu Dhabi. The role covers a broad range of technical and administrative activities centred on contract compliance, quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) inspection of structural scope, with supervision of the inspection team and support to the project and resident engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse applicable codes, standards and contract documents, and monitor construction to ensure compliance; interpret or clarify contract documents for contractors
• Maintain records such as daily/weekly progress reports, material accounts, change orders and record drawings
• Supervise, direct and coordinate the inspection team, hold weekly meetings with inspectors and the Project Engineer, and audit inspections against contract documents and contractor plans
• Issue non-conformance reports (NCRs) for violations and work with the Project Engineer to resolve problems
• Assist the Senior Discipline Engineer and the Resident Engineer/Team Lead, and liaise with the Design Engineer on modifications
• Attend progress and coordination meetings, and support the Project Lead/Senior Engineer in resolving site issues such as drawing discrepancies
• Take part in snagging and project handover coordination, and give daily site reports
• Monitor health and safety on site and stop work if unsafe practices are followed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or equivalent; a postgraduate degree and membership of a recognised institution, or a Master's in Civil/Structural Engineering, preferred
• High-rise residential and commercial building experience, with a strong background in start-up, execution and handover of major projects
• Good team player with high energy, able to supervise a team of inspectors

Required skills

• Site experience in basic design requirements, estimation, installation and all site activities for structural works on large-scale projects
• Familiarity with structural engineering methodologies, equipment, materials, tools and manpower allocation
• Ability to read and execute structural drawings
• Knowledge of authority requirements
