Unit Head – General Ledger (Finance Operations)

About the role

The Unit Head – General Ledger will lead the General Ledger team within the Finance Operations Unit, ensuring accurate recording, reconciliation and consolidation of all financial transactions in line with International Financial Standards and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, maintain and update the Chart of Accounts to support DCT’s reporting needs.
• Oversee daily GL, bank and inter‑company reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Supervise preparation of journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and adjustments for monthly, quarterly and year‑end closes.
• Manage the full financial closing process, guaranteeing compliance with deadlines and documentation standards.
• Control recording of acquisition and disposition transactions, reconcile subsidiary ledgers with summary‑level GL accounts, and conduct periodic inventory checks of GL records.
• Lead a team of approximately two direct reports and seven total staff, providing coaching and performance oversight.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior accounting or finance roles, preferably within a large organization.
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local UAE regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a team, set priorities and meet strict closing deadlines.
• Excellent analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.
