Wound Care Staff Nurse

About the role

The Wound Care Staff Nurse delivers age‑specific, patient‑centered care to individuals admitted to the Wound Care Unit at American Hospital Dubai. The role involves comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention and coordination of care in line with Joint Commission International standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform problem‑focused, age‑appropriate patient assessments and continually evaluate physical and psychological needs.
• Develop, revise and document individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Apply and monitor Negative Pressure Wound Therapy and provide burn care for chest, abdomen and back.
• Provide long‑term appliance care for colostomy and ileostomy patients, including education and follow‑up.
• Safely remove skin staples and clips and manage narcotic/controlled drug administration according to policy.
• Participate in unit meetings, Continuous Quality Improvement activities and mandatory education programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or equivalent) and registration as a Registered Nurse in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia.
• Minimum two years recent post‑graduate experience in inpatient/wound‑care nursing.
• Valid license to practice in the home country or last employment country and current Basic Life Support certification.
