Accounts Receivable Accountant

About the role

The Accounts Receivable accountant keeps accurate records and processes customer invoices and payments on time, helping maintain the organisation's cash flow through proper reconciliation, timely collections and support for reporting and audit processes. The role has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Process, verify and post customer receipts accurately in SAP
• Reconcile payments against invoices, resolve discrepancies and reconcile the AR sub-ledger to the general ledger
• Maintain updated records of AR transactions and customer account statuses, and keep customer files organised
• Follow up on overdue accounts using aging reports and work with customers to resolve billing issues and outstanding balances
• Collaborate with sales and customer service teams on invoice and billing queries
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing, and prepare journal vouchers, debit notes, credit notes and batches
• Provide supporting documentation during internal and external audits and ensure compliance with policies, accounting standards and internal controls
• Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis, system upgrades and process improvements

Required profile

• 2-4 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or general accounting roles
• Prior experience in a similar industry or ERP environment (preferably SAP) is an advantage
• Good communication and customer service skills; able to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of AR processes and accounting principles
• SAP or similar ERP systems
• MS Excel and other MS Office applications
• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
