Area Manager – Business Banking (Liabilities)

About the role

The Area Manager – Liability Business Banking leads a large, complex liability portfolio of 2,200‑3,000 high‑value client accounts across the UAE. Reporting to the Head of Liabilities, the role is accountable for business growth, revenue, profitability, portfolio quality, risk compliance, customer experience and operational effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual business plan aligned with the overall Business Banking strategy.
• Drive revenue, profitability, client acquisition, retention and product penetration targets.
• Optimize the asset‑liability mix to maximise sustainable revenue and relationship profitability.
• Lead portfolio segmentation, client coverage and cross‑sell initiatives to increase share of wallet.
• Monitor portfolio concentration, trends, attrition and emerging opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with risk, governance and regulatory frameworks.
• Champion digital banking solutions and technology‑enabled processes.
• Provide people leadership for a team of 20‑22 staff, fostering high performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in business or commercial banking, with a focus on liability products.
• Proven track record of managing large, high‑value client portfolios and delivering revenue growth.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing a team of 20+ professionals.
• Deep understanding of risk, compliance and governance frameworks in banking.
• Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
