Assistant Professor of Economics and Computational Social Science (Tenure-Track)

About the role

The Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Economics and Data Science. The successful candidate's tenure home will be in the Economics program, with an affiliation in the new MSc in Interdisciplinary Data Science and AI (MIDSAI). The position carries a teaching load of three courses per year, one of which will be for MIDSAI.

NYU Abu Dhabi is a research university, so it seeks applicants with an active research agenda in economics and AI. The ideal candidate leads the application of data science and AI tools to economics questions, or conducts empirical research on the economic implications of AI. Research areas may include big data collection, machine learning, natural language processing, image or video analysis, network inference, computational finance, online platforms and algorithmic behavior. The university is especially interested in scholars who work well in multidisciplinary teams and environments, and expects important contributions to their field.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Economics
• An active research agenda in economics and AI, with important contributions to the field
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and environments
