Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil Infrastructure

About the role

Parsons is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to support the Resident Engineer in delivering a major civil infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. You will oversee daily construction activities across roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks and public realm works, ensuring compliance with design and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily construction activities for civil infrastructure works, including roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks and public realm.
• Support contract administration and verify that works comply with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Coordinate and supervise wet and dry utility installations, including trenching, ducting, chambers, connections and testing support.
• Review contractor submissions such as method statements, shop drawings, traffic management plans and ITPs, and assist with inspections and material testing compliance.
• Monitor progress against the programme, identify risks or delays, recommend mitigation actions and manage NCRs, technical queries and corrective actions.
• Lead and supervise inspectors and junior engineers, conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments to reinforce HSE requirements.
• Coordinate with survey, QA/QC and other discipline teams to ensure correct setting‑out, quality execution and smooth interfaces.
• Participate in site meetings, provide technical updates and support hand‑over activities including inspections, snagging, as‑built and close‑out documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in construction supervision of civil infrastructure works.
• Extensive experience with roads, wet and dry utilities, and landscape/public realm projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE authority standards, QA/QC procedures and inspection/testing requirements.
• Excellent coordination, reporting and stakeholder communication abilities.
