Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil (Substations)

About the role

The Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil (Substations) supports the Resident Engineer in supervising civil works for substation construction projects in Abu Dhabi. This full‑time position offers hands‑on experience in site supervision, contractor coordination and multidisciplinary project delivery within the power infrastructure sector.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising civil works such as foundations, control buildings, equipment plinths, cable trenches and drainage.
• Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and enforce health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Review contractor submissions including method statements, shop drawings, material approvals and work procedures.
• Coordinate civil, electrical and mechanical disciplines to ensure smooth project execution.
• Track progress, report delays, risks or technical issues, and maintain accurate site records, daily logs and inspection reports.
• Support QA/QC implementation and ensure construction works meet required standards.
• Participate in site meetings and facilitate communication between client, contractors and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in civil construction, preferably on substation, power or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with substation civil works such as foundations, control buildings and cable trench systems.
• Good understanding of construction methodologies, QA/QC processes and HSE practices.
• Knowledge of international standards and GCC/UAE regulations is an advantage.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to work on‑site and travel as required.
