Assistant Underwriter - Construction

About the role

Zurich Insurance is seeking a detail‑oriented Assistant Underwriter to support its Construction underwriting team in the Middle East. You will work closely with senior underwriters to evaluate low‑complexity construction risks and ensure accurate policy documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior underwriters in reviewing applications, pricing low‑complexity construction risks, and setting terms in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Provide basic underwriting support, including account servicing, document preparation, and system updates.
• Maintain accurate underwriting records, endorsements, and related correspondence.
• Communicate with brokers and internal stakeholders to gather missing information and clarify policy details.
• Help prepare underwriting reports, summaries, and presentations for decision‑making.
• Collaborate with Claims, Finance, and other cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth underwriting processes.
• Stay informed on industry regulations, policy changes, and market conditions affecting underwriting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Knowledge of insurance principles and industry practices is advantageous.
• Strong analytical ability and high attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Experience using underwriting software (specific platforms not listed).
