Associate Director, Indirect Tax

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead our Indirect Tax practice in the UAE. The role combines team leadership, client relationship management, business development and high‑level technical advisory on VAT, excise and customs matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing team of tax professionals, ensuring effective delegation and resource management.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact for VAT, excise and customs issues.
• Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding services with existing clients and contributing to proposal development.
• Oversee technical review of tax compliance and advisory work, ensuring accuracy and alignment with UAE regulations and international standards.
• Represent Andersen UAE at industry events, webinars and podcasts, and create thought‑leadership content.
• Stay current with tax law changes, providing innovative solutions and supporting tax AI and e‑invoicing initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor junior staff and manage workflows efficiently.
• Strong business development and client‑facing skills with a focus on long‑term relationships.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex tax concepts clearly.
• Demonstrated track record of meeting revenue targets and contributing to firm profitability.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of UAE VAT, excise and customs regulations and international tax standards.
• Experience in technical review of tax compliance and advisory work.
• Ability to develop and deliver thought‑leadership content for industry publications and events.
