Associate Legal Counsel – Investment Focus

About the role

Avtra is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel to join its investment team in Abu Dhabi. The role provides specialised legal support for private fund structures, ensuring the organisation’s interests are protected across a range of investment activities.

Key responsibilities

• Advisory Function – Deliver timely legal counsel to senior management on co‑mingled fund investments, co‑investments and single investor funds.
• Legal Oversight – Manage legal aspects of assigned projects, coordinating with internal units and external counsel to ensure cost‑effective and commercially sound delivery.
• Compliance Monitoring – Ensure operations comply with applicable legislation and advise management on regulatory developments.
• Document Management – Review, control quality and advise on legal documents and material content.
• External Relations – Negotiate and communicate with asset managers, public authorities and other external parties.
• Risk Mitigation – Proactively identify, manage and prevent legal risks.

Required profile

• Law degree from a reputable university and admission to practice in the UAE or an internationally recognised jurisdiction.
• Minimum five years post‑qualification experience, either in‑house or in commercial law practice.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
• Experience providing investment‑related legal support to private fund structures (private equity, venture capital, infrastructure, real estate, credit funds, co‑investments).
• Knowledge of investment funds, corporate commercial matters, M&A, regulatory compliance and tax.
