Backend Software Engineer – AI‑Driven Business Communication

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable infrastructure that powers AI‑driven business communication products used in customer support, sales and marketing. The role offers full ownership of the product lifecycle, from research and design through implementation, testing, deployment and monitoring, within a globally distributed, asynchronous engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and document high‑performance, well‑structured APIs and backend services for new products.
• Lead backend initiatives from research and requirements gathering through implementation, deployment and post‑release evaluation.
• Create Engineering Requirement Documents that translate product ideas into clear technical plans.
• Build comprehensive automated test suites to ensure quality, performance and reliability.
• Implement product analytics and monitoring to measure feature effectiveness.
• Contribute to high‑scale systems such as messaging infrastructure, query services, webhooks and search components.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders in an asynchronous environment, communicating designs and trade‑offs clearly.
• Participate in a paid two‑week work‑trial project and iterate on improvements after release.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of web API architecture and ability to design scalable, maintainable APIs.
• Professional backend engineering experience with end‑to‑end ownership of projects.
• Excellent written communication skills for asynchronous collaboration.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently while seeking input when needed.
• Fluency in written English; spoken English is a plus.
• Willingness to attend recurring team meetings (Mon, Wed, Fri 2:30 PM GMT) and complete a paid two‑week trial.
