Biomedical Design Engineer (BIM Specialist)

About the role

We are seeking a talented and detail‑oriented Biomedical Design Engineer with a strong background in biomedical engineering and expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) using Autodesk Revit. The role focuses on designing and coordinating medical facilities, healthcare environments, and specialized equipment layouts to ensure optimal functionality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Create and manage detailed 3D models of healthcare facilities, medical devices, and equipment layouts using Autodesk Revit and other BIM tools.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and healthcare professionals to develop efficient and innovative designs for medical spaces and equipment placement.
• Ensure all designs comply with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Department of Health (DOH) standards and other relevant codes and regulations.
• Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including plans, sections, elevations, and 3D visualizations aligned with project goals and client specifications.
• Conduct technical analysis and feasibility studies to optimise space utilisation, workflows, and safety within healthcare environments.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including clinical staff, architects, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineers, to integrate biomedical systems into overall building designs.
• Perform quality checks and audits on BIM models and drawings to guarantee accuracy and consistency across projects.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in BIM technology, biomedical engineering, and healthcare facility design to drive innovation and improve processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in biomedical design engineering, specifically in healthcare facility design or medical equipment planning.
• In‑depth knowledge of UAE healthcare regulations and standards, particularly DHA/DOH requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (mandatory) and familiarity with other BIM tools such as Navisworks (advantageous).
• Strong understanding of biomedical engineering principles, medical equipment, and healthcare facility requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on workflow optimisation and patient safety.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
