Business Development Head SME & Retail – Health Insurance – UAE

About the role

The Business Development Head will lead GIG Gulf’s SME and Retail health‑insurance portfolio across the UAE broker channel. You will be accountable for new‑business production, renewal retention, portfolio performance and profitable growth while acting as the senior commercial representative with key brokers.

Key responsibilities

• Drive profitable growth of the SME and Retail business, meeting targets for new business, renewal, premium, retention and profitability.
• Develop and execute a commercial strategy aligned with market opportunities and underwriting appetite.
• Build and strengthen relationships with key brokers, increasing GIG Gulf’s share of wallet and portfolio contribution.
• Lead and develop the Business Development and Validation teams, fostering a high‑performance, commercially focused culture.
• Oversee pipeline management, quotation quality, conversion rates and ensure adherence to sales processes and governance.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Finance and IT to translate broker and client needs into competitive solutions.

Required profile

• Proven track record in business development, sales or distribution within the insurance industry, delivering ambitious commercial targets.
• Experience leading and motivating commercial teams, driving performance and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Deep understanding of the UAE insurance market, especially SME and Retail medical segments, including distribution models and competitive landscape.
• Strong knowledge of medical insurance products, pricing, underwriting principles and portfolio management.
• Extensive experience managing broker relationships and increasing share of wallet.
