Careers Guidance Counsellor

About the role

GEMS School of Research & Innovation is looking for a dedicated Careers Guidance Counsellor to join its student support team in Dubai. The role begins in January 2027 and focuses on helping students explore educational pathways, develop career plans, and prepare for the world of work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group counselling to help students identify educational requirements and create training plans.
• Design and deliver career‑management workshops, including decision‑making, job‑search strategies, résumé writing, interview techniques and portfolio development.
• Use assessment tools to uncover students’ interests, values, abilities and lifestyle preferences and relate them to career options.
• Collaborate with local agencies, businesses, universities and international educational providers to secure work‑experience placements and enrolment opportunities.
• Support students with disabilities, language or cultural differences, ensuring equitable access to career resources.
• Maintain up‑to‑date labour‑market information and keep accurate records of counselling activities.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in people from diverse backgrounds and the ability to listen non‑judgmentally.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Objectivity, tact and the capacity to motivate and inspire students.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities, with experience working alongside other professionals and community agencies.
