Chief Engineer

About the role

Rixos Premium Dubai JBR, a luxury hotel within the Ennismore group, is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer to lead its engineering operations. The role drives technical excellence, strategic innovation and operational efficiency across all engineering functions, overseeing a team and setting engineering standards while maintaining the highest levels of safety, compliance and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for engineering operations, maintenance and technical initiatives, and implement engineering strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with safety protocols, building codes and regulatory requirements.
• Direct maintenance, repairs and optimization of building systems, infrastructure, interiors, exteriors and guest-facing areas, and run and improve the preventive maintenance program.
• Manage departmental budgets, control expenses and contribute to financial planning and annual budget forecasts.
• Develop and oversee training programs, hold regular departmental meetings and mentor engineering staff.
• Ensure adherence to fire, life safety and emergency procedures, and manage inventory, assets, security protocols and equipment.
• Analyze engineering performance metrics, collaborate with other departments, make capital investment and upgrade decisions, and oversee capital projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related) or equivalent professional qualification.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in engineering operations, maintenance management or similar senior technical roles.
• Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing large-scale technical operations.
• Knowledge of safety protocols, building codes, regulatory compliance and industry standards.
• Leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with strong attention to detail and project management experience.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Technical expertise in building systems, HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing or related disciplines.
• Budget management, financial analysis and cost optimization.
• Maintenance management software and technical documentation systems (preferred).
• Certification in relevant engineering disciplines or safety management (preferred).
