Chief Engineer

About the role

Grand Mercure Dubai City, a 5-star Accor hotel with 361 rooms, is looking for a Chief Engineer. The role covers engineering administration, facilities management, preventive maintenance and repair, and coordination with corporate engineering, with oversight of all technical installations across the hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Organize engineering administration, facilities management and preventive maintenance, and coordinate with corporate engineering
• Manage and store spare parts at sufficient levels, register all incoming and outgoing items, and prioritize repairs of breakdowns
• Plan and run the annual preventive maintenance program and the engineering training program, in line with the P&C/L&D Manager
• Initiate regular fire fighting training with the Director of Security and review staff schedules and annual leave plans
• Oversee technical installations such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, emergency generator, air conditioning, kitchen equipment, cooling systems, pools, lighting, music and TV and paging systems
• Lead and train the engineering team, approve invoices, design a monthly report of works and monitor maintenance contracts
• Investigate guest complaints, supervise contractor work to meet brand standards, and ensure compliance with hygiene, health and safety policies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management or a related field
• Professional certification (e.g. Certified Hotel Engineer, Certified Facilities Manager) is a plus
• 5-7 years of managerial experience in engineering in a hotel or hospitality setting
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills
