Clinical Pharmacist – UAE National (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

The Clinical Pharmacist will optimise medication therapy for in‑patients, ensure safe and effective use of medicines, and provide expert pharmaceutical care within Corniche Hospital. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams to develop and review patient‑specific treatment plans.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise junior pharmacy staff and ensure compliance with departmental policies.
• Participate in clinical projects and formulary review activities.
• Conduct medication history and review for newly admitted patients, identifying and resolving drug‑related problems.
• Develop and present inpatient treatment plans at multidisciplinary meetings.
• Discuss treatment options with patients and carers, providing risk‑benefit information.
• Perform clinical evaluations of medication appropriateness and safety.
• Review and verify medication orders for interactions, duplications, omissions, allergies and adverse reactions.
• Calculate and confirm dosages for paediatric patients, IV admixtures, TPN, chemotherapy and other specialised therapies.
• Liaise with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal drug therapy.
• Interpret laboratory results to assess therapy effectiveness and recommend adjustments.
• Document therapeutic recommendations in patient records and pharmacy intervention forms.
• Supervise the safe use of pharmacy equipment and attend multidisciplinary team meetings regularly.
