Commis I - Banquets

About the role

Delano Dubai, the first DELANO brand in the UAE, is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Commis I to join its culinary team. You will support the preparation and delivery of dining experiences, from intimate celebrations to large events, working alongside experienced chefs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and organise mise en place according to banquet menus, event requirements and section instructions.
• Assist with cooking, plating and buffet preparation under the guidance of senior chefs.
• Follow recipes, portion guidelines and presentation standards to keep food quality consistent.
• Support food preparation for meetings, weddings, receptions and other special events.
• Keep your workstation clean, organised and ready for service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, temperature control and storage procedures, and handle dietary requirements and allergens with senior chefs.
• Label and store ingredients correctly, minimise waste and report equipment maintenance issues.
• Work with colleagues to ensure smooth preparation and timely service, and take part in training.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Commis I or an experienced Commis II ready for the next step, ideally in hotel banquet operations.
• A good foundation in food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Experience supporting buffet preparation, plated events or high-volume service is an advantage.
• Understanding of food hygiene, HACCP principles and allergen awareness.
• Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• A culinary qualification is an advantage.
