Commis (Kitchen Assistant)

About the role

The Commis will support the Chef de Partie and the wider kitchen team at SLS Dubai, a luxury 5‑star hotel within the Accor group. This position involves daily food preparation, maintaining high standards of quality, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie and kitchen staff with food preparation and cooking activities.
• Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, sauces, and garnishes according to recipes.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, taste, and consistency.
• Handle receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies following FIFO and proper labeling.
• Keep workstations, equipment, and preparation areas clean and organized.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Support buffet, restaurant, banquet, and other kitchen operations as required.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Chef de Partie.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any issues.
• Assist with cleaning and closing duties at the end of each shift.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum two years of cooking/kitchen experience in an accredited restaurant or hotel.
• One to two years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
• Gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor with strong communication skills in English.
• Ability to multitask, work in a fast‑paced environment, and pay high‑level attention to detail.
• Team‑oriented attitude and ability to work independently when needed.
