Consultant Gastroenterology – ERCP, EUS & IR Biopsy

About the role

The Consultant Gastroenterology will join the Division of Gastroenterology at SEHA in Abu Dhabi, providing expert endoscopic services including ERCP, EUS and IR‑guided biopsies. The role combines clinical care, supervision of junior staff and participation in departmental performance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support and implement hospital, departmental and divisional policies and initiatives.
• Lead performance management processes such as peer review and productivity/utilisation reviews.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment and ensuring continuous medical coverage.
• Oversee clinical activities of junior physicians, ensuring high‑quality patient care.
• Conduct endoscopic procedures (ERCP, EUS, IR biopsy), obtain informed consent and document findings promptly.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, liaise with other specialties and coordinate patient care pathways.
• Maintain compliance with SEHA regulations, licensure, certification and mandatory training.

Required profile

• Medical qualification from a Tier 1 institution.
• Board‑certified or equivalent in Gastroenterology with extensive experience in ERCP, EUS and IR‑guided biopsies.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise junior staff and manage departmental initiatives.
• Strong commitment to clinical governance, patient safety and regulatory compliance.
