Consultant Neurologist (Stroke)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Neurologist with a focus on Stroke Medicine to join our Neurology Department in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering expert diagnosis and management for acute and chronic cerebrovascular conditions while helping to expand a comprehensive stroke service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑level care for acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, TIA, cerebral venous thrombosis and other cerebrovascular disorders.
• Assess patients for intravenous thrombolysis and coordinate mechanical thrombectomy with neuro‑interventional teams.
• Lead post‑stroke management, secondary prevention and long‑term vascular risk reduction.
• Interpret CT, CTA, MRI, MRA and other neuro‑imaging studies to guide treatment decisions.
• Participate in stroke unit/ICU rounds, multidisciplinary meetings and outpatient stroke clinics.
• Develop and refine stroke protocols, clinical pathways, quality‑improvement and patient‑safety initiatives.
• Supervise residents, fellows and junior physicians and contribute to academic teaching and research.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
• Accredited postgraduate training in Neurology with board certification or specialist qualification.
• Fellowship or formal training in Stroke Medicine / Vascular Neurology is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in acute stroke care and hyperacute pathways.
