Consultant Ophthalmologist – Cornea & External Eye Disease (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with a focus on cornea and external eye disease to join our Ophthalmology Department in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering comprehensive clinical care, performing advanced diagnostics, and, where permitted, undertaking corneal surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage a wide range of corneal and ocular surface disorders, including keratoconus, infections, dystrophies, dry eye, inflammation, trauma, scarring, and contact‑lens complications.
• Perform detailed anterior segment examinations and interpret topography, tomography, pachymetry and other imaging studies.
• Provide medical and procedural treatments, decide on surgical indications, and carry out corneal surgeries within clinical privileges.
• Collaborate with transplant, refractive, glaucoma, retina and other subspecialty teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical protocol development, quality‑improvement initiatives, and research projects.
• Teach and supervise residents, junior ophthalmologists, and contribute to training programs.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognized institution and completed postgraduate training in Ophthalmology.
• Board certification or specialist qualification in Ophthalmology.
• Fellowship or formal advanced training in Cornea & External Eye Disease is highly desirable.
