Consultant Pain Management

About the role

The Consultant Pain Management will join SEHA’s multidisciplinary team to deliver expert pain assessment, treatment and follow‑up for in‑patients and out‑patients across Abu Dhabi hospitals. The role combines direct clinical care with leadership of junior medical staff and support for departmental performance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients with acute and chronic pain according to best‑practice guidelines.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess patients regularly and adjust treatment plans based on investigation results.
• Oversee junior medical staff, ensuring high‑quality care and appropriate documentation.
• Support the Division Chief in scheduling, recruitment and maintaining adequate medical coverage.
• Participate in performance management, peer review and productivity/utilisation reviews.
• Attend divisional and multidisciplinary meetings to coordinate holistic patient care.
• Ensure compliance with SEHA policies, licensure, certification and mandatory training requirements.

Required profile

• Medical qualification recognised by SEHA (Tier 1 or Tier 2).
• Current national medical licence and relevant board certification in pain management or related specialty.
• Proven experience in a hospital setting, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
• Ability to work within established hospital policies on admissions, consultations, procedures and discharge.
