Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgery

About the role

The Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at SEHA seeks an experienced Consultant to lead high‑quality, evidence‑based cardiac care for children. The role involves direct patient management, supervision of junior staff, and active participation in multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive clinical care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and execution of pediatric cardiac procedures.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret investigations, and prescribe appropriate therapies.
• Lead ward rounds, manage inpatient and outpatient caseloads, and ensure continuity of care.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, residents, and allied health professionals.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, providing out‑of‑hours coverage.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital, DOH, and regulatory standards.
• Engage in quality improvement activities, audits, and risk management initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, obtaining informed consent for procedures.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with a recognized specialty training program (Board Certification, Royal College Fellowship, or DOH‑approved qualification).
• Post‑graduate degree such as MD, MS, or DNB is preferred.
• 3–7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Valid DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi (or eligibility for licensing).
• Ability to meet any required primary source verification and licensing approvals.
