Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgery (Transplant)

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon with proven expertise in cardiac transplantation to join a leading tertiary pediatric cardiac centre in Abu Dhabi. The role involves managing complex congenital heart disease, performing pediatric heart transplants, and delivering advanced cardiac surgical care to infants, children and adolescents.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex pediatric cardiac surgeries, including congenital heart defect repairs, redo procedures and high‑risk neonatal operations.
• Lead and participate in the full spectrum of pediatric heart transplantation – donor evaluation, recipient selection, surgical transplantation and post‑operative management.
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative surgical care, collaborating closely with ICU, cardiology, anesthesia and perfusion teams.
• Supervise, mentor and train junior surgeons, fellows and surgical trainees.
• Contribute to clinical research, audits, publications and academic activities.
• Maintain compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations, ensure surgical safety, infection control and high standards of peri‑operative care.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognised by DOH Abu Dhabi.
• Board certification/fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery with subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.
• Additional advanced training or demonstrable experience in pediatric heart transplantation.
• Valid DOH Consultant Licence or eligibility letter in Cardiac Surgery.
• Minimum 7–10 years post‑fellowship experience in pediatric cardiac surgery.
