Consultant Pediatric Hematologist and Oncologist

About the role

SEHA is seeking a Consultant Pediatric Hematologist and Oncologist to join its multidisciplinary team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on delivering expert care for children with benign hematological disorders, ensuring high‑quality clinical management and patient safety.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat and monitor benign hematological conditions such as iron‑deficiency anemia, thalassemia, sickle‑cell disease, ITP, hemophilia and von Willebrand disease.
• Interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests including CBC, coagulation profiles, iron studies and bone‑marrow biopsies.
• Manage anticoagulation therapy and oversee related complications.
• Collaborate with laboratory teams, multidisciplinary clinicians and provide emergency hematology consultations.
• Document assessments, investigations and treatment plans in SEHA’s electronic medical record system.
• Educate patients and families on disease management, treatment options and prognosis.
• Participate in CME, audits, research and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Residency in Internal Medicine followed by subspecialty training in Hematology.
• Board certification in Hematology or Hematology & Oncology (American Board, Arab Board, MRCP or equivalent).
• Valid DOH Specialist License in Hematology or eligibility to obtain one.
• 3–5 years post‑residency experience in hematology, preferably with exposure to thalassemia, hemophilia and anticoagulation management.

Required skills

• Interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic hematology tests.
• Management of anticoagulation therapy.
• Use of electronic medical record systems for clinical documentation.
