Consultant Physician – Forensic Psychiatry

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Consultant Physician specialized in Forensic Psychiatry to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering primary and specialized psychiatric care to patients with injuries, illnesses, and trauma‑related conditions, while collaborating with multidisciplinary staff.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, take detailed medical histories, and address concerns.
• Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and psychiatric disorders.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, explaining results to patients.
• Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, preventive health, and lifestyle changes.
• Develop and prescribe appropriate treatment plans, including psychopharmacology.
• Explain medical procedures and coordinate referrals to specialists.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with medical regulations such as HIPAA.
• Collaborate with nurses, assistants, and other physicians to deliver comprehensive care.

Required profile

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized university.
• Residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship/Sub‑specialty training in Forensic Psychiatry.
• Board certification in Psychiatry (e.g., MRCPsych, ABPN, CCT UK or equivalent).
• Valid DOH license for Abu Dhabi or eligibility to obtain one.
• 3–5 years of post‑specialization experience in a similar role.
• Proven expertise in trauma‑informed care, developmental psychiatry, and psychopharmacology.
• Experience in culturally diverse environments is highly desirable.
• Fluent English; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
