Consultant Physician – General Pediatrics

About the role

The Consultant Physician – General Pediatrics leads and supervises high‑quality, evidence‑based pediatric care within the hospital. The role combines direct patient management with leadership, training, and administrative duties to ensure excellent clinical outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat and manage pediatric patients according to best‑practice standards.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly, and document care promptly.
• Oversee junior medical staff, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
• Participate in peer‑review, productivity, and utilization review processes.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment and ensuring adequate medical coverage.
• Attend divisional meetings and multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Coordinate referrals from emergency, primary care and other specialties.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ensure proper patient preparation for procedures, including informed consent.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies on admissions, consultations, discharges and follow‑up.

Required profile

• Board‑certified pediatrician with extensive clinical experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to train junior staff.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement and adherence to hospital policies.
