Consultant Physician – Trauma

About the role

The Consultant Physician – Trauma leads and supervises high‑quality, evidence‑based trauma care at SSMC. You will diagnose, manage and treat patients while providing clinical leadership and training to junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise delivery of trauma care, ensuring adherence to best‑practice standards.
• Support and implement hospital policies, performance‑management and peer‑review processes.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment and ensuring adequate medical coverage.
• Oversee junior staff activities, conduct ward rounds, and document clinical information promptly.
• Review investigations, modify treatment plans, and coordinate multidisciplinary meetings.
• Prepare patients for procedures, obtain informed consent, and manage on‑call duties on a rotational basis.
• Communicate clinical information to patients and families in a timely manner.

Required profile

• Demonstrated clinical excellence in trauma medicine.
• Strong leadership and teaching abilities for junior staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively across specialties and support services.
