Continuity Officer – Readiness & Business Continuity

About the role

The Continuity Officer will work closely with service leaders and designated business continuity champions to design, implement, and maintain a robust Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) for the hospital. This role ensures that the organization can anticipate, respond to, and recover from a wide range of disruptions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and sustain the BCMS, including regular updates and documentation.
• Support organizational risk assessments and hazard vulnerability analyses.
• Lead the development and maintenance of business impact analyses and continuity plans.
• Collaborate with IT and Health Information Management teams to enforce data storage, management, and recovery best practices.
• Educate internal stakeholders on BCMS procedures and prepare periodic compliance reports.
• Identify regulatory non‑compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist auditors by providing BCMS work samples and evidence.
• Conduct off‑cycle reviews of impact analyses when new services are introduced.
• Provide continuity support during emergency response and recovery, contributing to the Hospital Incident Command System.
• Maintain alignment with local, federal, and JCI standards and report to the Readiness and Continuity Manager.

Required profile

• 4‑6 years of progressive experience in business continuity or emergency preparedness.
• Experience in a large healthcare facility is preferred.
• Professional certification in Crisis Management, Emergency Preparedness, Safety & Security, or equivalent experience of at least 5 years.
• Post‑graduate qualification in emergency management is desirable.
