Cost Engineer – Power & Water Transmission Projects

About the role

The Cost Engineer will lead cost management for a large‑scale power and water transmission scheme in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures budgets, forecasts and financial controls are aligned with project objectives and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain overall program and package budgets, updating them as project progress evolves.
• Track costs against approved budgets, covering committed, incurred, actual/paid and forecast final costs.
• Produce detailed cost reports for each works package, highlighting variances, earned value and month‑to‑month movements with commentary.
• Review and comment on EPC contractors’ work value reports.
• Coordinate with clients, supervision consultants, contractors, vendors and regulatory authorities to ensure cost compliance.
• Oversee the preparation, review and registration of variation orders and claims resolutions.
• Monitor insurance and bond conditions, expirations and renewals.
• Prepare monthly Forecast‑to‑Complete (Estimate at Completion) and ensure timely final accounting for each EPC contract.
• Present regular project cost status reports to senior management and the client.
• Mentor project team members and foster strong stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cost engineering on large‑scale infrastructure programmes.
• Proven experience managing budgets, forecasts and commercial reporting for similar projects.
