Design Lead - Substation (Civil & Structural)

About the role

The Design Lead will be responsible for the civil and structural engineering of substations for PT&D IC, supporting all substation teams in the UAE. The role involves preparing design documents, reviewing detailed drawings, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality, on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review civil and structural design documents and detailed engineering drawings.
• Submit structural drawings and design documents to clients for approval.
• Maintain Document Control Index (DCI) and manage BOQ preparation.
• Coordinate with site teams, clients, and interdisciplinary groups to meet design requirements.
• Interact with clients for drawing approvals, clarifications, and pre‑bid queries.
• Optimize structural quantities while meeting client specifications and bidding constraints.
• Review vendor engineering documents and fabrication drawings for civil and structural compliance.
• Ensure designs adhere to domestic and international design codes and standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in civil and structural design for GIS substations, control rooms, transformer foundations, and related infrastructure.
• Ability to lead a team of engineers and draughtspeople, managing engineering activities within budget and schedule.
• Strong coordination skills with electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and site disciplines.
• Familiarity with substation-specific structures such as switchyard gantry towers and equipment support systems.
