Director, Metal Trader

About the role

The Commodity Trading Desk at First Abu Dhabi Bank seeks a seasoned professional to lead the Base and Precious Metals franchise. The Director, Metal Trader will manage client flow, generate P&L, and enhance the desk’s capabilities while building strong relationships with key clients and counterparties.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and leverage customer flow to meet assigned budget and revenue targets.
• Generate P&L through deep knowledge of base and precious metals markets.
• Enhance desk capabilities and grow the metals franchise.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, counterparties, and sales teams.
• Price, execute, and risk‑manage client flow, including derivatives market making and warrants business development.
• Monitor and control desk risk within set limits and tolerance.
• Collaborate with international FAB centers to capture flow and pricing for new local customers.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of commodity trading experience, specifically in base and precious metals.
• Strong knowledge of commodity markets, trading platforms, and trading systems.
• Demonstrated track record of managing commodities risk and implementing trading strategies.
• Ability to build positive client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Team player who promotes cooperation across desks and adapts to new initiatives.
