Director - UAE National - External Audit

About the role

Grant Thornton UAE, part of a global network of independent audit, tax and advisory firms, is hiring an Audit Director in Dubai. The role focuses on developing the firm's presence in the UAE in line with Strategy 2027, for an entrepreneurial person who wants to take ownership of a team's growth and build strong internal and external networks. The firm provides audit and assurance services to private, public and international companies, including SMEs and listed companies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a large portfolio of audit clients so that all work is profitable, efficient and of the highest quality
• Oversee and support several engagement teams at once to complete financial statement audits
• Develop the client base and lead client pitches
• Project manage client work to the right quality and timescales
• Build strong working relationships with the team and clients
• Pitch new projects and take on wider department responsibilities through training
• Communicate with clients about engagement and service expectations and resolve technical and service issues quickly
• Train and supervise less experienced colleagues and give regular feedback
• Work with Talent Acquisition to recruit for the team

Required profile

• UAE National with a Family Book
• 11+ years of external audit experience in a top international firm
• Professional qualification (ACA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent)
• Ideally a strong network or potential to build one of clients in the UAE market
• Passion for business development and involvement in developing a team strategy
• Significant leadership experience in audit within a practice
• Experience on large audits and complex groups, and on complex technical matters
• Proven ability to inspire and develop people
