Electrical Engineer

About the role

The Boring Company is seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop and integrate control systems for tunnel boring machines, industrial automation, lighting, power, and related facilities. The role involves both system‑level and component‑level work across a range of applications.

Key responsibilities

• Jump between system and component level for tunnel, industrial automation, lighting, power, building/maintenance and automotive control applications.
• Design, develop and integrate simple and complex control systems for electrical, mechanical and fluid‑power systems.
• Troubleshoot and solve deep‑level problems on equipment such as tunnel boring machines and vehicles.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the field and office to improve integration of electrical systems with mechanical structures, software and civil engineering.
• Oversee and inspect installations, builds and retrofits to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Interface with local utilities and contractors for electrical service upgrades and installations.
• Assist in selection, specification development and procurement of electrical equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in electrical or controls engineering.
• Experience designing, developing and integrating control and automation systems.
• Experience selecting sensors and defining redundancy requirements.
• Experience working with PLCs, motor controls and variable frequency drives.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities for electrical and control systems.
• Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or Nevada.
