Electrical Engineer – Power & Lighting Design

About the role

SYSTRA, a global leader in transport engineering and consultancy, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Dubai team. You will contribute to the design, coordination and delivery of electrical systems for large‑scale infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and production of lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, emergency lighting, earthing, lightning protection and ELV systems.
• Review and coordinate designs to meet Dubai/UAE, CIBSE, IEC, BS, DEWA and DCD requirements.
• Integrate electrical systems with MEP, architectural and civil works, managing interfaces with multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee HVAC, fire‑fighting, de‑watering, escalator/elevator and power supply systems.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, calculation notes, cable schedules and shop drawings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in electrical system design, preferably on metro rail or large infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in rail/metro projects and ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ETAP, Amtech, Dialux, Relux.
• Experience using Revit and Navisworks for design review.
• Strong knowledge of medium and low voltage distribution, lighting controls and electrical load calculations.
• Familiarity with IEC, BS, DEWA, DCD and CIBSE standards.
