Engineering Manager – Lead & Grow High‑Performing Teams

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing team within talabat, the leading online food and grocery ordering platform in MENA. You will partner with product, design and data teams to translate customer needs into scalable software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, design and data partners to understand business needs and define strategies that drive outcomes.
• Lead, inspire and empower engineers to self‑organize, innovate, implement, deploy and own end‑to‑end complex solutions.
• Mentor and coach engineering talent, fostering growth and retention in a fast‑moving environment.
• Guide the team to deliver software in small batches while meeting non‑functional requirements such as availability, scalability and latency.
• Oversee discovery, planning and execution to ensure continuous delivery of value to customers.

Required profile

• Strong product sense and ability to prioritize opportunities that impact customers.
• Proven experience building and leading cross‑functional, self‑organized engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Growth mindset, curiosity and openness to feedback.
• Solid understanding of lean/agile principles.

Required skills

• Microservices and event‑driven architecture.
• RESTful API design and implementation.
• Trunk‑based development and continuous delivery pipelines.
• Test‑driven development, pair programming and automated end‑to‑end testing.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Design, implementation, monitoring and scaling of web applications and APIs.
• Mobile development lifecycle knowledge.
