English Teacher – Secondary / Key Stage

About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated English Teacher for secondary/key stage classes. The role involves planning, delivering and assessing English lessons that inspire pupils to achieve high standards of literacy and communication.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging lessons that challenge pupils and build on prior progress.
• Set clear learning targets and monitor achievement through effective assessment.
• Identify and support SEN and EAL learners, adapting resources as needed.
• Maintain a structured, paced classroom environment that promotes motivation and challenge.
• Use a variety of teaching methods and appropriate resources, including library and ICT tools.
• Mark, display and present student work to high standards.
• Uphold school policies, discipline, dress code and cultural sensitivities.
• Contribute to the School Improvement Plan and curriculum development.

• Ability to manage classroom behaviour and maintain professional conduct.
• Awareness of cultural sensitivities and appropriate appearance.
• Experience working with secondary students and supporting SEN/EAL learners.
