Finishing Technician

About the role

To perform maintenance and overhauling activities in the Finishing Section of the plant, ensuring high proficiency, quality and maximum safety.

Key responsibilities

• Execute all scheduled corrective maintenance and major repairs to optimise production and minimise plant downtime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment during shutdowns and identify root‑cause corrective actions.
• Attend to mechanical maintenance problems, report any abnormalities and plan rectifications.
• Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with engineering principles and safety regulations.
• Assist the Senior Technician in all technical areas and act as senior technician when required.
• Follow mechanical maintenance standards for all workshop equipment.

Required profile

• Ability to deliver agreed outcomes and work with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and prioritisation of projects and issues.
• Willingness to learn, teamwork orientation and good communication with colleagues.
• Safe work habits, reliable attendance and adherence to health, safety and environmental practices.

Required skills

• ITI in Mechanical Fitter trade.
• Technical knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshooting of mechanical problems and root‑cause analysis.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and hydraulic circuits.
• Knowledge of rigging and slinging techniques.
• 3‑5 years experience in mechanical maintenance of a steel plant.
• Proficiency with hand tools, measuring tools, portable tools and tackles.
