Fleet Personnel Officer

About the role

The Fleet Personnel Officer acts as the vital link between ship and shore, overseeing crew planning, recruitment, rotation and development to ensure safe, continuous vessel operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute vessel manning plans by identifying, evaluating and selecting qualified seafarers in line with flag state regulations and budget constraints.
• Review and approve employment contracts to ensure legal and company compliance.
• Plan and implement crew rotations and end‑of‑contract procedures to maintain uninterrupted operations.
• Monitor crew vacancies, support annual manning plans and budgets.
• Coordinate embarkation and disembarkation logistics, ensuring cost‑effective and timely execution.
• Liaise with flag state authorities to maintain up‑to‑date documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate operational changes to vessel personnel and provide relevant documentation.
• Assess crew performance, identify training needs and support development plans with training centres.
• Optimize crew travel arrangements and monitor associated costs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or certificate in a maritime‑related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in maritime recruitment or fleet personnel operations.
• Proven experience in employment contract development and crew planning.
• Familiarity with maritime labour law and seafarers’ rights.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of vessel crew requirements and seafarer qualifications.
• Knowledge of global and local maritime employment markets.
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
• Fluency in English and proficiency with standard office software.
